My approach

My approach to therapy is person-centered, non-judgmental, and constantly evolving. You will find that we spend most of our time in curiosity, seeking to understand you and your situation in context, so that we can explore new avenues for healing and relief. I don't take a whole lot of notes. I am fully present in the therapy room: an empathic witness, an experienced guide, and a fully human companion on life's journey.

Healing takes time. I will sit with you as long as you need. This might be a few sessions or it might be many years. I will always prioritize and honor who you are and what you need in the treatment process

I don't spend a lot of time on data collection, and I won't have you fill out questionnaires or answer invasive questions prior to meeting me. I am really good at identifying distress and how it impairs functioning in a comfortable and conversational way.

Lately, I've been thinking about the therapeutic process as one of shared block assembly. You bring your box of assorted blocks into the room, you dump them out, and I sit with you as we sort through what you've got and decide what you would like to build. You have some ideas based on what you've built before. I have some ideas based on what I've seen built before (remember, I've sat with many block builders!) I might even share some of my own blocks with you. At the end of the day, you decide what you are going to make. They are your blocks, after all. You take them home. You bring them back. We talk about what worked in the construction, what didn't work, and we explore new possibilities.
